It’s like deciding to take a vacation, you start out by researching a place to go, them laying out the plan on how and when to go. Next you start thinking about what clothes to bring and the places you will visit while you are there.

I know this sounds crazy but if you hang out with people that eat right and exercise, eventually you will pick up some of their habits. Studies show that people who are connected with other like minded people have a better chance of losing weight.

4. Design a better meal Plan

Everyday plan to eat a healthy meal and commit to a fitness routine. Start on Sunday night and make a schedule of what you’re going to eat that week. Be sure to meal prep, choosing foods high in protein like chicken, fish, and vegetable. Make this a priority in your life and before you know it you will find the thinner.

5. Adjust your eating time

Try to eat your biggest meal early in the day and eat light a night. This method is good because you are still active at work and not at home sitting around on the internet or watching TV.

6. Plan for the week

Make sure you plan every week with the idea of eating right and exercising. This will help you say focus during the week. Pack your gym bag and lunch for the week to ensure you don’t have an excuse for not eating right and working out.

7. Not on a diet

In order to keep your head in the game, just keep telling yourself that you are not on diet but you decided to change your eating and exercising habits. This mindset helps you on the days when don’t feel like eating right and working out.

8. Drink water

Water can help suppressant your appetite and burn calories. It also helps to remove waste from the body. During exercising water can help muscles and joints to move better. It also can help other organs to work effectively as they get ready to exercise.

9. Eat slowly

I have advised all my trainees to chew slowly and swallow only when the food is all chewed up, and then repeat. It takes time to know when your full. Eating slowly allows us to not only enjoy our food more, but gives us better cues of being satisfied.

10. Make a better plate

Make half your plate vegetables with whole grains and a lean protein. When you switch the portions of grains and vegetables on your plate, you’ll see a difference. Remember what they say, “if you want to get lean you need to eat green”.

11. Don’t buy unhealthy food 

This is a simple idea but it works. If you don’t have it, you can’t eat it. Instead of chips and cookies, keep convenient and easy to prepare items at close reach. Such items include nuts and seeds, percut fruit and vegetables, string cheese, salmon and yogurt. This doesn’t mean you can’t have treats. Just buy yourself one serving to enjoy at a time.

12. Use small plates

Using smaller plates, bowls, and cups will decrease the volume of food you can serve yourself. Using this method will allow you satisfy what your eyes see.

13. No chips 

When you need a salty fix, go for popcorn, not chips. A cup of the air-popped treat will satisfy the chip crave. Popcorn is a whole grain, fiber-filled snack with less calories.

14. Eat breakfast 

To fight the urge to overindulge in the evening, make sure to eat a protein and fiber filled breakfast in the morning. Healthy choices include eggs, yogurt, and nuts or nut butters. Pair protein with a high-fiber food like a high-fiber cereals.

Tuna Burger

This is a great alternative to eating your tuna that boasts a high protein content and a healthy level of dietary fat. Ingredients

  • 1 tbsp salad dressing, KRAFT Mayo Light Mayonnaise
  • 2 cup shredded romaine lettuce
  • ½ cup mixed salad greens
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • ¼ cup raw oats
  • 1 large egg whites
  • 1 can tuna, canned in water

Mix together the chunk light tuna, egg white, and dry oats and form into a patty. Heat the oil in a non-stick skillet on medium heat. Once heated, placed patty on and grill, flipping at half time. Serve alongside a lettuce salad with vegetables and low-fat salad dressing.

Chicken and Fried Rice

This is a healthier recipe with a good dose of protein and carbohydrates to get you through the afternoon and for those long winter months. Make it for dinner or the night before and store it in your fridge for your meal prep lunch.

Ingredients

  • ½ cup brown rice
  • ½ tbsp soy sauce
  • ½ tbsp olive oil
  • 3 oz chicken breast
  • 2 large egg whites
  • ⅛ cup, chopped green bell pepper, chopped
  • ⅛ whole mushrooms, sliced
  • ⅛ cup onion, finely chopped
  • ¾ cup low-sodium chicken broth

First dice chicken breast and stir-fry in 1 tsp of the olive oil until tender. Set aside. Next, heat remaining oil in pan and pour in egg whites, stirring until cooked. Remove from pan and set aside with the chicken. Pour in the chicken broth and soy sauce into a pot and bring to a boil. Turn down the heat, add in vegetables along with rice, cover, and simmer for five to ten minutes, or as indicated by the package directions. Once finished, stir back in the chicken and egg whites and gently pan fry for 1-2 minutes until slightly crispy. Serve.

Prep: 5 min. Cook: 10 min. Total: 15 min

  • ¼ cup roasted red pepper hummus
  • 10 oz chicken breast
  • 1 piece whole portabella mushroom caps
  • 4 whole 100-calorie multi-grain tortilla
  • 4 tbsp goat cheese
  • ½ cup red onion, diced
  • 2 tbsp garlic, minced

Spray a nonstick skillet with coconut oil spray, and set on medium-high heat. Sear 1 tablespoon minced garlic in the skillet and then add the chopped mushrooms. Sear and cook for about 3 minutes, stirring quickly with a spatula so that the mushroom does not completely wilt. Set aside in a separate bowl. Sear 1 tablespoon minced garlic in the skillet, then toss in chicken breast. Cook the chicken for about 12-15 minutes or until the meat is white when cut and the juices run clear. Set aside in a separate bowl. Thinly slice red onions, chop up fresh cilantro, and remove the pit from the avocado and cut into thin slices. Spread about 2 tablespoons (1/8 cup) of red-pepper hummus on each wheat tortilla.

Ok, who doesn’t like a good burger? This is a great healthy burger that will help with that craving for a not so healthy burger.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground 99% fat-free turkey breast
  • 2 tbsp salsa
  • ¼ cup cilantro
  • 1 whole egg
  • slice, large (1/4″ thick) onions

Mix ingredients together and shape into patties. Panfry or grill. Bun is optional, if can serve it as a taco on bun or by its self with a mix green salad.

  • 1/3 c. low-sodium chicken broth
  • 1/4 c. packed brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp. grainy Dijon mustard
  • 1 tsp. dried thyme
  • 1/2 tsp. dried rosemary
  • 1/2 tsp. dried oregano
  • 1/2 tsp. crushed red pepper flakes
  • Kosher salt
  • Freshly ground black pepper
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • Freshly chopped parsley, for garnish

In a large slow cooker, add Brussels sprouts and potatoes in an even layer and place chicken on top. In a small bowl, whisk together balsamic vinegar, chicken broth, brown sugar, mustard, dried thyme, rosemary, oregano, and crushed red pepper flakes. *Season generously with salt and pepper* Pour marinade over chicken and vegetables. Scatter all over with garlic. Cover and cook on high until chicken is fall-apart tender, 4 1/2 to 5 hours. Garnish with parsley and serve with the juices.

My first dog was an Airedale which is considered a versatile working dog capable of learning a great deal, but they have an independent mind of their own and are not easy to raise or train. He ended up training me on how he wanted to live to a certain degree but along the way, I learned some great ideas on how to prepare my best friend.

What’s in a name? Choosing a name is the first part of your training. Consider a short name ending with a strong consonant. This allows you to say his name so he can always hear it clearly. Names like Jasper, Jack, or Ginger will perk up your puppy ears, especially when you place a strong emphasis at the end.

The house rules. Before you bring him home, decide what he can and can’t do. Ask the questions, is he allowed on the furniture, which parts of the house are a no-no. Will he have his own furniture, like a bed or dining table? And be sure to enforce these rules early to avoid confusion for both of you.

Set up his private area. Believe it or not, he may need some private time. So locate a private sleeping place that’s not used by anyone else in the family, or another pet. The benefit of this is for those periods of time when he is left alone and reward him if he remains relaxed and quiet, this could be crate or bed.

Help him relax when he comes home. According to pedigree.com “When your puppy gets home, give him a warm hot water bottle and put a ticking clock near his sleeping area. This imitates the heat and heartbeat of his litter mates and will help in the new environment. This may be good for a new dog from a busy loud shelter who’s had a rough time early on. Good behavior. Good behavior means reward time. Use treats, toys, love, or heaps of praise. Let him know when he’s getting it right.

The jump up. Don’t reprimand him, just turn your back on him pay him no attention and try to ignore his behavior, and let him settle down before giving positive reinforcement.

Biting or nipping. Use the word stop and no, then pretend you’re in great pain when he’s biting or nipping you. This will show him that this is not good for you and he will surprisingly stop. And if this doesn’t work, use a chew toy for your hand or pant leg.

The dog clock. Minutes after they’ve done something, it’s forgotten about. keep trying your training techniques to make the link between the behavior and the correction. It’s all about repetition and reinforcement learning.

When called he should come. Teaching him to come is the first thing to master. Make sure to use his name every time for positive reinforcement. Get down on his eye level using his name. Make sure to use positive reinforcement when he comes.

After training use positive words. End training with positive words like Excellent boy! Good job! And add a treat or something to play with.

To lose weight you will need a weight loss workout plan to start. Regular exercise is the key to help you meet your goals of becoming a healthier and slimmer you. Losing weight is not about looking like an Instagram model, having a six pack or just losing weight for a special occasion.

It’s always good to eat your biggest meal of the day at lunch instead of at dinner to help keep hunger at bay, which means less afternoon snacking and fewer daily calories overall. It’s also a good habit not to eat 2 to 3 hours before your bed time to give your body time to burn calories.

Intermittent fasting

I have read many articles on the topic of intermittent fasting and they all came to same conclusion for weight loss and better health. Consider a simple form of intermittent fasting. Limit the hours of the day when you eat, and for best effect, make it earlier in the day between 7 am to 3 pm, or even 10 am to 6 pm, but definitely not in the evening before bed. An exercise ball is a versatile and dynamic workout tool that can seriously take your fitness to the next level particularly your core stability. Exercise balls are good for body weight workouts which are useful mentally and physically since you’re basically working against your own body weight. It can be used for planks, push-ups, and dips.

It also can be used has a bench for dumbbell presses and bicep curls. As you perform all these workouts, you will also be strengthening your core because you have to constantly use your core muscles to maintain stability and improve your flexibility. Sitting on an exercise ball requires the use of your back and abdominal muscles to maintain your balance on the ball which is good for improving your balance.

Weight loss workout plan

Walk it off: Walking is one of the best exercises for weight loss. It’s a suitable and an easy way for beginners to start exercising without feeling overwhelmed and it’s a lower impact exercise, meaning it doesn’t stress your joints. It’s estimated that a 155 pound person can burn around 167 calories per 30 minutes of walking at a moderate pace.

Jogging or running: They seem similar, but a jogging pace is between 4–6 mph and running is 6 mph. A 150 pound person can burn about 297 calories per 30 minutes of jogging at a 5-mph pace, or 371 calories per 30 minutes of running at a 6-mph pace, also jogging and running can help burn belly fat.

Note: This is how you should start your day. This instructs your body to start burning calories and to release your feel good endorphins.

Cycling: Cycling is great way to lose weight. People who cycle regularly have a better overall fitness, a lower risk of heart disease, cancer, and death, compared with those who don’t cycle regularly. A 150 pound person can burn around 261 calories per 30 minutes of cycling on a stationary bike at a moderate pace, or 297 calories per 30 minutes on a bicycle outdoors at a moderate pace of 12 to 13.9 mph.

Weight training: Weight training can help you build strength and promote muscle growth, which can improve your body to burn calories at rest. A 24 week of weight training can led to a 9% increase in metabolic rate among men, which is about 141 more calories per day. Women can increase their metabolic rate to nearly 4%, or 51 more calories per day.

Training Day

Day one: Weight training upper body, chest/biceps and with your choice for cardio. walking, cycling, running or jogging.

Day two: Weight training lower body, legs/calves and with your choice for cardio. walking, cycling, running or jogging.

Day three: Weight training upper body back/triceps and with your choice for cardio. walking, cycling, running or jogging.

Day four: Your choice for cardio. walking, cycling, running or jogging.

Day five: Rest, you earned it. Two days of rest and repeat.

Note: The goal is to workout a least 4 days a week. And make sure you are monitoring what and when you eat. This is why meal prep and having a meal replacement drink is so important for weight loss.
